Hirsch’s supporting the Sunflower Fund

As one of the sponsors, Hirsch’s was represented recently at the recent ‘Bollywood’ themed Sunflower Fund Annual Banquet, which was held at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton.  Funds raised from the event enable the Sunflower Fund to create awareness, educate and recruit stem cell donors for the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR).  The CEO of the Fund, Alana James, addressed guests – thanking them for their involvement and sharing some of the successes of the Fund. She stressed the importance of creating awareness for the need of more Donors to register and join the current registry of over 73 000 donors on the SABMR.

One of the patients, 17 year old Mpumelelo Ncube, shared his heartwarming story on how the Fund had positively impacted his life after he was diagnosed with Leukaemia.

Florence – Top Domestic Worker

highlight on the Hirsch’s SIlverlakes Calendar is the Domestic Worker Course which is presented monthly.  “The course is free of charge, and is offered as an additional service to our Customers and the Community, who in many instances do not use the appliances themselves.  We  teach the Domestic Workers not only tips and tricks in cleaning the home, but also proper appliance use, care and maintenance” said PRO Joanne Brunette.  The course is free and open to all, with certificates being issued upon completion.

At this event the winner of the Domestic Worker of the Month Competition was announced.  Smiling from ear to ear, Florence Seshai proudly received her certificate and R300,00 Hirsch’s gift voucher.  Said Debbie Bosman, Florence’s employer: “Florence has been in my employ for 15 years and has been a consistent and reliable worker – not only attending to daily household chores, but assisting in the running of my school.  Florence has a lovely personality and is fun to be round – her lovely cheerful manner has earned a place in many a heart.”  Florence goes forward for the title of Hirsch’s Domestic Worker of the Year, Silverlakes,  with a prize of R5000,00.

Hirsch’s are proud members of the Capital City Business Chamber (CCBC) in Tshwane, and as such were invited to attend their Annual Prestigious Gala Dinner for 2016.

The evening saw over 400 business people from the city getting together to celebrate the successes of the year.  The keynote speaker at the event was the recently elected Mayor – Hon. Solly Msimanga, who spoke on the positive changes that have already been implemented in the city.  He expanded on the plans of local government to empower businesses – and as such create an atmosphere of success for all, and was rewarded with a standing ovation and thunderous applause.

Australian Masterchef Judge, George Calombaris was very much in demand at the Good Food and Wine Show that was held in Durban recently with Masterchef fans queuing to watch his show and to get a glimpse of his magic touch in the kitchen. He also hosted a small tea party on the 48HOURS TV stand, and over a cup of tea and Red Velvet Cake, chatted to Margaret Hirsch and her Media team about the show, his favourite appliances, and what he loves about Durban, the warmth of the people and bunny chows being some of the many things!

George was the only international chef at the show, and to keep in line with the South African culture and what the locals love, during his show he created a whole new menu, specifically for Durbanites, adding some spice to his modern Greek-Australian fayre.

Susan Grobler addresses Networkers

Hirsch’s Silverlakes recently hosted their ever popular Ladies Networking event, where likeminded ladies can connect while marketing their businesses/brand.

The Guest Speaker at the event, Susan Grobler, is a member of the International Society of Neuro-Semantics and a Neuro-Semantic Meta Master NLP Practitioner.  Susan lives her dream by enabling individuals, teams and organizations to live and perform to their full potential.  She has a passion for life and makes a difference through her coaching, motivational talks, workshops, seminars, group facilitation and training focussing on  ‘Leadership from Within’.

The topic of Susan’s talk was ‘Who am I? –  Improve your relationships through better understanding of yourself and others.’  Susan shared that many people define themselves by what they do and have, instead of who they really are.  She explained that one needs to connect with your values, character, principles and beliefs and find your self-worth in these.  Illustrating this point she said that if one finds their value in what they do or have, they would feel worth-less in a situation where they ‘lost’ these eg. Losing a job, or losing a house would leave them devastated.  Once one had connected with their ‘true self’, relationships automatically improve as one no longer seeks affirmation from others in order to feel worthy.

After a most insightful talk, opportunity was given to the women present to present themselves and their businesses in a short ‘elevator-pitch’.  This was followed by some lucky draws sponsored by Hirsch’s and Annique, whereafter informal networking and the swopping of business cards took place.  Ronel Jooste from PhysEQfit Guest House kindly sponsored some lovely eats for the event.
